How to verify developer identity, release information, and compatibility before installing an Android app.
The developer identity is one of the most useful signals when researching an Android application. Search for the publisher's official website, then compare it with the developer name shown in Google Play.
Check the Listing
Review the app title, developer, update date, downloads where shown, compatibility information, and data-safety section. Do not rely on the app icon alone.
Compare With the Publisher
A developer should have a consistent public identity. If a third-party download page uses the same app name but identifies a different publisher, investigate before installing.
Version Numbers
Compare the version number and release date with the official source. A third-party page claiming an unusually new version may be distributing an unofficial build.
